Cummings & McCrady, Inc. competed in a May 2006 competition through the Charleston Civic Design Center for a Grace Bridge Memorial. The Cummings & McCrady "park" scheme won the competition with the idea to create a park, using materials from the old bridge to commemorate the Grace Memorial Bridge. In addition, the park embraces a quote by former Charleston mayor John Patrick Grace on Charleston's past, present, and future.
