Charleston Memorial Hospital, Charleston, SC Charleston Memorial Hopital was originally built as an un-air-conditioned tuberculosis facility in the 1950s. Cumming & McCrady's 6.2 million dollar renovation and addition addressed weatherproofing of the exterior skin as well as refreshing the dated appearance. Inside, the entire facility was modernized with new finishes and up to date mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. A new floor was added to one wing to house a new OB-Gyn facility. All the work was planned to allow a phased construction sequence as the hospital remained fully functional throughout the project. |
