MUSC Modular Operating Rooms, Charleston, SC

Two prefabricated operating rooms were hoisted on to the roof of the third floor of the Children's Hospital at the Medical University of South Carolina. Connecting corridors and support spaces allowed increased OR utilization for the hospital. This complicated project was accomplished without problems as a result of close cooperation between the contractor, the modular supplier, and the architect. The two rectilinear operating rooms were installed around existing ductwork and fume exhausts with little interruption in routine services.
