This structure, circa 1790, is located in downtown Charleston. It burned in a fire in 1978 and sat roofless until the Chart House Restaurant owners acquired the property. Work began with the masonry shell and heavy timber framing that remained and could be retained and expressed. Interior finishes had been completely destroyed and were redone using brass and mahogony to recall the feeling of the traditions of the old buildings in Charleston.
