The Church of the Holy Communion, Charleston, SC

Work at Holy Communion began as a master plan study of all parish facilities with an emphasis on enlarging the parish hall. Hurricane Hugo interrupted this process, but in turn, allowed the parish to upgrade the church in the process of restoring the historic building.   Roof repairs included matching the heart pine trusses and installing a new copper roof.   The sanctuary was repainted in the original historic paint scheme.   The parish house was fully renovated, and the old hall was demolished and replaced with a new facility containing a 250 seat hall, a kitchen, toilets, and coffee facilities.   The restoration won a Carolopolis Award from the Preservation Society of Charleston.
